2021 Best Custom Home $1-2M - Master Builders Association of Victoria
The brief was for an architecturally advanced and designed home incorporating as many curves and circles as possible, hence the name of the residence ‘Casacurvatura’. The Owners are drawn to the bends and turns of the circular form and wanted a home to blend in with the natural environment. The initial brief was one of curves and circles representing the natural environment more so than straight horizontal and vertical lines.
The quality of the performance of the home was an important request by the owners due to its location high in the Strzelecki Ranges. Using Passive House principles, the Owner, Architect and Builder felt it was truly the best building system to achieve a low energy, comfortable and healthy home. The home has been designed and built to ensure that the owners will never need to pay electricity and gas costs for the duration of the life of the home.

The Passivhaus Project in Cape Paterson is situated in the heart of the The Cape eco village of Cape Paterson. This house was the first Passivhaus in the estate featuring a modern style, designed to suit the block and it's surrounds.
The owners had become accustomed to the thoughtful, sustainably designed homes in the region when they approached North South Homes to become involved in their dream of building and living in a Passivhaus.
This home has been designed to achieve the rigorous standards of the International Passivhaus Institute which implores the importance of a fabric first construction standard.
In it's essence the passive house design delivers very high performance and comfort for the lifetime of the building. This house, therefore, relies on building physics and carefully integrated, minimal building services and technology.
